The government has recently introduced a new plan system to manage how development takes place in towns and the countryside, as part of the Planning & Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.

Local Development Frameworks (LDFs) are the local development documents being prepared by district councils and unitary authorities that serve to influence commercial planning and development.

The plan-making process is one of the most important elements of the new LDFs, especially for property owners that are looking to enhance the value of their property interests.
